There was panic in the Oke Fia area of Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Wednesday, following the clash between operatives of Nigeria Immigration Service and Amotekun Corps.

The cause of the clash was not immediately clear, but sources close to the head office of Osun Amotekun Corps in Oke Fia, said gunshots were heard around 10am.

But residents of the area that spoke on condition of anonymity told The PUNCH that gunshots were heard shortly after some armed Immigration operatives arrived at the premises of Osun Amotekun headquarters.

When our correspondent visited the premises around 11:30am, armed immigration officials were met exchanging hot words with the Amotekun operatives as senior officers of the two organisations were going into a meeting to resolve the issue.

Efforts to get reaction from Osun Amotekun spokesperson, Idowu Yusuf, proved futile as calls to line rang out.

Yusuf also did not reply to the text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report.
