The National Secretary of the Accord Party, Dr Adebukola Ajaja has disclosed that the executive members of the Accord party in Oyo State remain the same and undissolved, stating that no one can remove the state executive without her signature.

Recall that the party state executive was announced to be dissolved after the Prince Ojo Kolade-led faction declared support for Governor Seyi Makinde during the March 18 governorship election.

Reacting to this during the Oyo State Accord stakeholders meeting, held on Thursday in Ibadan, the state capital, Ajaja stated that she is the national party secretary and she is not aware of the dissolution or any letter sent to the state executives.

In her words: “I don’t know anything about any meeting to dissolve anybody. I need to sign the document before anybody can dissolve anyone. It’s I and the chairman that can sign the letter to dissolve anybody. So I don’t know anything about it.

“Even if we are going to dissolve anybody, we are going to invite them for questioning. Right now, Accord Party in the state Exco is still one, and led by Prince Kolade Ojo. All our members are one and we are not divided”

Speaking on why she refused to support the Gubernatorial candidate of the party, Chief Adebayo Adelabu at the election, she said: “I’m not meant to be involved in the State party affairs, except if I’m called. What I know is that Adelabu refused to work with the state executives. I don’t even know if Adelabu is still a member of the party, only him can say for himself. I know of the members that are present here. I can’t say for him.”

In a related development, the candidate of the Accord Party for Oyo North Senatorial District, Hon Shina Peller spoke on his decision to support Governor Seyi Makinde.

Peller said he supported Seyi Makinde due to the plans he has for the oke ogun region.

In his words: “We worked for Governor Makinde for many reasons. First, 2023 politics is all about personality and not the party, and so we are so much concerned with this. Also, after the presidential election in which we lost, I met with Adelabu about our chances and he refused to listen to the technicalities on ground, so he refused to listen to us and worked with us, so we had no chance.

“Again we can all see the works of Seyi Makinde for the Oke-ogun people. He built the many roads for the Oke-ogun people, like the Ibadan-Iseyin road, Ogbomosho-Iseyin road among others. He also gave us the first university in Oke-ogun in 70 years. So we made a great choice”

Earlier in his address, the State Chairman of the party, Prince Ojo Kolade welcomed every member. He called on all the aggrieved party members to come back home for them to become one.
