Saki West LG Lawmakers Suspend Councilor Over Alleged Gross Misconduct, Anti-party Activities

Lawmakers in Saki West Local government area of Oyo state have suspended the Councilor representing Ward 3, Mr Sikiru Mukaila Adeleke over alleged gross misconducts and anti-party activities.

This decision was part of the resolutions of the Legislative Arm of the Local government during its sitting, on Tuesday, in Saki.

The resolution which was made available to newsmen was signed by the Leader, Mr Fasasi Quadri Amao and the Clerk, Prince Adesokan Philip.

According to the resolution, the Lawmakers deliberated on a petition from members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, executive in Ward 3.

The lawmakers also directed the suspension of payment of salary and allowances of the Councilor pending final determination of the allegations.

It read: “The Legislative Council, Saki West Local Government held its plenary sitting on Tuesday 28 March, 2023 at the Council’s Chambers.

“The sitting deliberated on a letter of a call for suspension of Hon. Sikiru M. A, which the Council received from the Executive Members. Stakeholders and the entire members of the People Democratic Party (PDP in Ward 03. Saki calling for the immediate suspension of Hon. Sikiru Mukaila Adeleke. Councilor representing the ward for alleged gross misconducts and anti-party activities:

“The letter further seeks the indulgence of the Council to stop the Hon. Councilor from attending its sitting forthwith pending proper investigation of the Councilor’s alleged misdemeanor.

“Sequel to the foregoing, members of the Council deliberated extensively and in exercise of its functions, the Council Unanimously Resolved and passed the following resolution which was signed by the Leader of the House, Hon. Fasasi Quadri Amao and the Clerk, Prince Adesokan Philip Oyedokun: “that Hon. Sikiru Mukaila Adeleke be and was hereby suspended indefinitely from the sittings of the Legislative Council for alleged anti-party activities’.

“A copy of the attendance sheet at the meeting is attached for your information. In view of the above with particular reference to paragraph 4, the Management of the Local Government is requested to give effect to the resolution and suspend payment of any salaries and allowances of the Councilor pending final determination of the allegations

“In the same vein, he is enjoined to stop parading himself as the Councilor in charge of Ward 3 and at the same time restricted from the Local Government Office.”
