It was all jubilation as a Frontline Leader of All Progressive Congress Party in Oyo State and a gubernatorial hopeful in the last primary election, Prof Adeolu Akande dolled out various sums of cash gifts to party faithfuls across the ten wards during this year’s Christmas party at his country home in Otu, headquarters of Itesiwaju local government yesterday.
Prof Adeolu Akande who is also the Chairman, Board of Nigeria Communications Commission has, for sometime now, made the yuletide period an annual bonding event with the people of his primary constituency during which he grants his people unfettered audience, to enable them convey their challenges to him directly, be it personal or communal, and, at the end of which he characteristically put smiles on their faces.
However, this year’s edition was spectacular as it turned out to be a naira rain party for them, when he, to their pleasant surprise, splashed them with a whooping sum of eight million naira – three million naira as direct cash gifts and five million naira as small scale enterprises interest-free revolving loan to be administered by a Committee.
Beneficiaries are as follows: one hundred thousand naira for each Ward Chairman (10 in number), each Woman leader,Youth Leader, Disabled member received fifty thousand naira, while twenty party members per Ward (200 in all), went home with five thousand naira each. Several others also went home with plastic home utensils as souvenirs.
In his brief remarks at the event, which was witnessed by the state Party Chairman ; Hon Isaac Omodewu, Akande stated that he believed this cash incentive would assist the recipients in meeting their financial obligations usually associated with the festivities, help grow their businesses, while equally serving as impetus for renewal of their commitment towards propelling the party’s candidates to victory in the approaching elections of 2023.
Party Stakeholders from Itesiwaju local government who accompanied Prof Akande to the event include three former Chairmen of the local government: Hon. Ipadeola Adeniji, Hon. Olarinre Adisa Adeniji, Hon Niyi Adeagbo and Hon Dejo Adebisi – former SSA, Media. Other former LG Chairmen from across the state present were; Hon Yekeen Popoola, Hon. Saheed Alaran, Hon. Wasiu Olatunbosun, Hon, James Adeleke from Irepo, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Oluyole LGAs respectively, Alh. Fatal Kazeem Akinbile, Surveyor Kunle Busari, Hon Fatai Adesokan, and Mr. Jide Akinlotan.
