The Super Falcons returned to training on Thursday after receiving $2,800 from the Nigeria Football Federation, Dejoymedia reports.

The players had boycotted training in Casablanca, Morocco Wednesday, ahead of their 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations third-place clash versus Zambia on Friday (today), over unpaid allowances.

Quoting a top NFF official, journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana, wrote on Twitter,” According to a high-level NFF official, the Super Falcons have been paid $2300 per player, with an additional $500 to have been received overnight, making a total of $2800.

“The payment represents all the camp allowances due in Morocco,” the official said.

“What is left are the tournament match bonuses (of around $10,000 to $11,000).”

The nine-time winners will face Zambia and battle for the bronze medals of the 12th Women Africa Cup of Nations on Friday at the Complexe Mohamed V in Casablanca – Morocco.

The Falcons are the most successful team in the history of women’s football in Africa having won the WAFCON title nine times. They are the only African team to have qualified for every World Cup.
