The re-entry of Hon. Saheed Alaran – a consumate grassroots politician, running mate to ADC Gubernatorial candidate- Senator Olufemi Lanlehin during the 2019 General election, and a former Chairman of Iseyin Local Government, into the contest for the Oyo NORTH Senatorial seat on the platform of ACCORD PARTY has sent jitters to the camp of the incumbent- Sen Fatai Buhari who is approaching the end of his second term in the upper chamber, and also looking forward to an unprecedented third term!
This is coming on the heels of the recent primaries conducted by his former party the All Progressives Congress under questionable circumstances which schemed him out of the contest on the platform of his original Party- the APC. He thereafter defected to ACCORD PARTY, a party which zoned the seat to the ten- local- government Oke-ogun side as against the three-local government Ogbomosho side of the Senatorial District which produced the current holder of the position.
This state of affairs has therefore ignited a feeling of marginalisation on the part of the generality of the people of Oke-ogun resulting in their determination to elect one of them into the position come 2023 and are therefore looking in the direction of Hon. Adejare Alaran .
Thus with Hon Alaran; a core and undiluted progressive grassroot mobilizer; according to a statement from his campaign office; is “a true son of Oke Ogun…and ever ready to bring back the lost glory of our zone”.
And moreso coming from a key voting centre of the Senatorial District- iseyin is enough for the incumbent to worry about. Coupled with the resolve of the voters insisting to wear the beads on the buttocks of their girl child come 2023.
The management of all these supportive tendencies by the Alaran camp will go a long way in ensuring that the confidence of the Oke-ogun voters, accross the ten local government areas, in Hon Adejare Alaran, whom they see as a “candidate of value”, not “flamboyant” nor displaying “desperation” is not misplaced.
“We need back our glory and our value needs to be brought back to the limelight as our voice needs to be heard in the apex chamber of governance, hence ALARAN is a necessity”, the statement concluded.
