The dejoymedia and punch had reported that gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded and attacked Zira at about 2am on Saturday and kidnapped the village head and his son.

It was unclear if a ransom was paid by the family of the village head before they were released.

The Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the release of the victims to journalists in Bauchi on Tuesday.

He said, “Today, the village head of Zira and his son regained freedom (from captivity). Both of them are in good health condition.”

Wakil did not give further details on the development.

Our correspondent reports that their release is coming hours after a former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Sani Toro, former Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles, Garba Yila, and another person, were also regained their freedom after being abducted.
