Suspected bandits have attacked the Ungwan Sola community closed to the Federal Medical Centre now Teaching Hospital, Katsina and kidnapped eight people.

Credible sources disclosed that the hoodlums invaded the community around 4:00 am yesterday and kidnapped the people in their respective houses, are now demanding N60million ransom for their release.

Already, the inhabitants of some outskirt towns in the state, have been disturbed as tension rises simply because they are no longer safe, as most of the people are pondering relocating to the city centre of the state capital.

Similarly, some other hoodlums also attacked Unguwar Kutare in Batsari LGA of the state, kidnapped scores an unspecified number of persons around 8pm on Monday.

The state police command spokesman, Gambo Isah, has confirmed the incident, saying: “At about 0400hrs, we got a report that terrorists numbering 12 on motorbikes, armed with AK 47, invaded Shola Quarters, at the outskirt of the city and abducted six members of the community to an unknown destination.

“The commissioner of Police, KTS police command, has deployed an anti-kidnapping unit in addition to another operational asset of the command to the area.  He gave them a marching order and restated that the command will not rest on its oars until the victims are rescued alive and unhurt.  The investigation is ongoing.”
